Dr. Margie Sweeney is a family physician and Secular Franciscan who lives in the Tampa area in Florida with her husband Dr. Michael Sweeney. They have two adult children, Patrick and Kelly. In addition to her profession of healing, Dr. Sweeney feels led to a vocation of healing which she is fulfilling as Founder and President of Helping Hands Healing Ministries, Inc.
Dr. Sweeney has worked in group practice and solo practice as well as in several clinic settings. She has also trained medical and nursing students and family practice residents (doctors in training). She currently provides primary care services at a clinic in Tampa, FL.
In 2001, Dr. Sweeney took a life-changing trip to East Africa. She landed in Nairobi, Kenya on 9/11 and her life was forever changed. As a result of that trip and after much prayer and discernment, Dr. Sweeney founded Helping Hands Healing Ministries, Inc., a nonprofit charity, to address the medical, educational, social, and spiritual needs of the impoverished in developing countries.
